COMPREHENSIVE STUDY OF THE ORAON TRIBES' ECONOMY IN INDIA
Abstract
The present study highlights the position of Oraon tribes of Indian regarding their occupation, income, education, and resource utilization. The challenges, which are fundamental in nature include poverty, scarcity of job opportunities, and lack of human rights for education especially for girls. The study employed a quantitative survey questionnaires with a qualitative interview and focus group discussions. Gender and region bias was countered through stratified random sampling and statistical and thematic analysis done with the aid of SPSS and NVivo respectively. This paper’s discovery shows that agriculture continues to be the main source of income across 42.5% of the people, with women participating in animal breeding and artistry. Incoming data demonstrates how economically challenged society is, for instance, 50% of households make less than INR 5000 per month. Educational result indicate that 35 percent of women were illiterate compared to 25 percent men and only 10 percent have higher education. Dependence on forest resources and use of traditional practices call for concerns of threats posed by environmental changes. Thus, the present investigation finds it reasonable to recommend the targeted educational reform as well as vocational and skills training with the concentration to encourage the better economic mobility that needs by preserving culture and other sustainable resource development.
